Ernie is a lifelong resident of Amarillo.  He  earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics and Finance in 1984 from Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business.  He returned to Amarillo in 1985 and began his carrer with The Boyd Agency and Financial Services. 

Ernie is a deacon at First Baptist Church of Amarillo and a young adult Bible study director.   His civic involvement includes being a past chairman of the Amarillo Airport Board and the Amarillo Hospital District Board of Managers.  His life revolves around his family, church, civic involvement, and work.  He and his wife, Delisa, have been married for 24 years. They have two children.
